The Best Time to Go:
The Cape York season is the Dry Season, generally from May to October. This is when the roads are open, the river crossings are lower and the weather is generally cooler and less humid.
- May/June: The landscape is lush and rivers are still running strong after the wet season. A beautiful time to visit with fewer crowds.
- July/August: Peak season. Book your national park permits and commercial campsites well in advance, especially during school holidays.
- September/October: Hotter days, but quieter campsites, making it perfect for dedicated fishing and swimming in the beautiful, clear waterholes.
